pebRole

Module: ZXR10-PEB-MIB

OID (symbolic): ZXR10-PEB-MIB::pebRole

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.3902.3.6000.510.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The role of the device in the Extended Bridge system, include controller(Controlling Bridge) and extender(Bridge Port Extender).

The value none means the device is not an Extended Bridge system device.

The default value for pebRole object is none.

What is pebRole?

This sets the device's role in an IEEE 802.1BR Extended Bridge system: Controlling Bridge (controller), Bridge Port Extender (extender), or none if the device isn't part of one. An admin configures this before deploying port extenders, since the whole extended-bridge topology depends on each device correctly declaring its role. For example, setting it to extender(2) configures this device to act as a Bridge Port Extender under a central controller.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.3902.3.6000.510.1.1
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> ZXR10-PEB-MIB::pebRole

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.3902.3.6000.510.1.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> ZXR10-PEB-MIB::pebRole.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.3902.3.6000.510.1.1.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> pebRole.1

Start monitoring ZTE ZXR10 switch/router family with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Create custom SNMP monitor using the ZXR10-PEB-MIB::pebRole OID value, configure state conditions and alerts, and monitor any ZTE ZXR10 switch/router family from a single console.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Select a ZTE ZXR10 switch/router family as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type pebRole into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. The role of the device in the Extended Bridge system, include controller(Controlling Bridge) and extender(Bridge Port Extender). On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an INTEGER-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value changes unexpectedly, since the correct role for this device depends on your Extended Bridge topology and an unplanned change often indicates a fault or misconfiguration. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
