Description: Manages Zhone RADIUS client configuration including server addresses, authentication parameters, and accounting settings.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ZHONE-RADIUS-CLIENT?

ZHONE-RADIUS-CLIENT defines Zhone Technologies enterprise MIB objects for configuring the device's RADIUS client behavior, including server addresses, authentication parameters, and accounting settings used for subscriber or administrative access control. It exposes categories of data covering primary/secondary RADIUS server addresses and ports, shared-secret and authentication parameters, and accounting-record configuration. Its monitoring value centers on confirming authentication service reachability and configuration correctness -- verifying the configured RADIUS servers match the intended AAA infrastructure is a software/configuration-status check that helps explain authentication or accounting failures. It builds directly on the standard RADIUS protocol (RFC 2865/2866) even though the object set is Zhone-proprietary. It is typically deployed on Zhone access/aggregation equipment that authenticates subscribers or administrators against a centralized RADIUS server. Engineers can download the ZHONE-RADIUS-CLIENT file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZHONE-RADIUS-CLIENT. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Zhone Technologies access/aggregation device

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check the configured RADIUS server address and authentication port to confirm the device is pointed at the correct AAA server, and would review accounting settings to verify usage records are being sent for billing/session tracking. A spike in authentication failures traced through these objects could indicate a shared-secret mismatch or an unreachable RADIUS server.

What Can Be Monitored

  • RADIUS server address and port
  • authentication parameters/shared secret
  • accounting configuration
  • authentication success/failure indicators
