etherTxMultipleCollisionFrames
Module: XYPLEX-ETHERNET-MIB
OID (symbolic): XYPLEX-ETHERNET-MIB::etherTxMultipleCollisionFrames
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.33.11.2.1.3
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: Counter
Access: read-only
Description: A count of successfully transmitted frames on a particular interface for which transmission is inhibited by more than one collision. A frame that is counted by an instance of this object is also counted by the corresponding instance of either the ifOutUcastPkts or ifOutNUcastPkts object and is not counted by the corresponding instance of the etherTxSingleCollisionFrames object.
What is etherTxMultipleCollisionFrames?
A read-only counter tracking successfully transmitted frames on this interface that were delayed by more than one collision before getting through. A high rate of multiple-collision frames, compared to single-collision frames, signals a heavily congested or oversubscribed shared Ethernet segment and is a stronger warning sign than single collisions alone. If this counter climbs much faster than etherTxSingleCollisionFrames, an admin would suspect the shared segment on that port is significantly overloaded and consider segmenting it or moving to switched full-duplex.
Examples
Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.33.11.2.1.3 snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> XYPLEX-ETHERNET-MIB::etherTxMultipleCollisionFrames
Get a specific instance (index 1):
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.33.11.2.1.3.1 snmpget -v2c -c public <target> XYPLEX-ETHERNET-MIB::etherTxMultipleCollisionFrames.1
