etherMulticastBytesOut

Module: XYPLEX-ETHERNET-MIB

OID (symbolic): XYPLEX-ETHERNET-MIB::etherMulticastBytesOut

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.33.11.3.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter

Access: read-only

Description: A count of successfully frames successfully transmitted on a particular interface and for which the destination address multicast bit was set. Bytes that are counted by an instance of this object are also counted by the corresponding instance of the ifOutOctets object.

What is etherMulticastBytesOut?

A read-only counter tracking the byte volume of frames successfully transmitted on this interface whose destination address had the multicast bit set. This lets an admin see how much of the interface's outbound traffic is multicast, useful for capacity planning on multicast-heavy applications like video distribution; these bytes are also included in the standard ifOutOctets total. An interface distributing a multicast video stream would show a correspondingly large etherMulticastBytesOut value relative to its total outbound traffic.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.33.11.3.1.3
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> XYPLEX-ETHERNET-MIB::etherMulticastBytesOut

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.33.11.3.1.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> XYPLEX-ETHERNET-MIB::etherMulticastBytesOut.1
