Description: Fibernet S.L. private MIB for the XMUX4+ transport multiplexer, covering device identity, configuration, and alarm management

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is XMUX4-PLUS?

The XMUX4-PLUS MIB is a Fibernet S.L. private enterprise MIB for the XMUX4+ transport multiplexer, a device used in fiber-optic transport/multiplexing technology to combine multiple lower-rate signals onto a shared transmission medium. It exposes device identity and configuration objects along with an alarm-management structure for reporting fault conditions on the multiplexer. Its monitoring purpose is hardware/fault status: it lets an operator confirm the device's identity and configuration match expectations and, more importantly, poll or receive traps for active alarms (such as signal loss or module faults) that indicate a transport-path failure needing attention. As a small self-contained enterprise MIB it has no apparent dependency on other standard MIBs beyond the base SNMP enterprise-tree convention. It was deployed on Fibernet XMUX4+ multiplexer units in telecom transport networks requiring remote fault and configuration visibility, making XMUX4-PLUS SNMP monitoring a routine part of fiber transport operations.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in XMUX4-PLUS. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Fibernet XMUX4+ transport multiplexer

Monitoring Examples

A telecom operator polls the device identity and configuration objects to confirm the XMUX4+ unit's provisioned multiplexing settings match the site's transport plan, then monitors the alarm-management objects for any active alarm entries. An active alarm corresponding to a specific tributary or line port signals a transport-path fault, such as a lost input signal, that requires field dispatch before the aggregated circuit is affected.

What Can Be Monitored

  • device identity/configuration
  • active alarm conditions
  • tributary/line port status
  • multiplexer fault state
