All MIBs › XDLC-OPT-MIB

Category: X.25 and Legacy WAN

Description: Defines optional objects for XDLC data link control protocol configuration and performance monitoring.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is XDLC-OPT-MIB?

XDLC-OPT-MIB defines optional conformance groups for XDLC (an SDLC-family extended data link control protocol) data-link management, specifically the primary- and secondary-station protocol object groups (cdx6500PCTStationProtocolGroup, cdx6500PSTStationProtocolGroup) for cdx6500-series communications equipment. It belongs to the legacy WAN/SNA data-link-control management category. As an "OPT" (optional groups) module, its content is conformance/agent-capability grouping rather than a set of runtime data objects itself — it groups together which primary-station and secondary-station XDLC protocol objects an agent implementation must support, rather than exposing hardware sensors or counters directly. Its monitoring value is therefore indirect: the base XDLC MIB (to which this module's groups apply) would expose link-level status and statistics for SDLC/XDLC stations, and this module simply defines which of those objects are grouped as optional conformance for cdx6500 devices. It has a clear dependency on a base XDLC MIB module defining the actual station protocol objects being grouped, and on SNMPv2 conformance (OBJECT-GROUP) conventions, and would be deployed alongside cdx6500-series SNA/SDLC gateway or front-end-processor hardware in legacy mainframe-connectivity WAN environments, where administrators can download the XDLC-OPT-MIB file directly to load its conformance groups into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in XDLC-OPT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • cdx6500-series SDLC/XDLC data-link-control equipment (legacy SNA gateway/FEP hardware)

Monitoring Examples

This module's only sample objects are cdx6500PCTStationProtocolGroup and cdx6500PSTStationProtocolGroup, which are OBJECT-GROUP conformance groupings for primary- and secondary-station XDLC protocol objects on cdx6500-series equipment — it is a conformance module, not a source of runtime data objects, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe honestly beyond noting which optional groups an agent implements. Actual polling of link status/counters would occur against the base XDLC MIB objects these groups reference, not against this module itself.
