What Is WS-TYPE-MIB?
WS-TYPE-MIB is a vendor-specific Symbol Technologies (later Motorola/Zebra) MIB module that defines shared textual conventions — custom data types and enumerations — used across Symbol's wireless LAN switch and access point MIB family. It does not itself expose any object instances, tables, traps, or scalars; it is purely a schema-definition module consumed by other Symbol wireless switch MIBs. Consequently it carries no direct hardware or software status information such as uptime, temperature, or CPU load — those are exposed by the functional MIBs that import these textual conventions. Its dependency relationship runs the other way: other Symbol Technologies wireless switch MIB modules depend on WS-TYPE-MIB for common type definitions, ensuring consistent representation of values like status codes or radio parameters across the product line. It would be found deployed alongside Symbol/Motorola wireless switch controllers and access points as a supporting schema module rather than a directly polled MIB, and browsing WS-TYPE-MIB SNMP object trees in a compiler shows only type declarations rather than any instance an agent would return in a GET or WALK.
