What Is WAN-OPT-MIB?

WAN-OPT-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB for a WAN optimization/acceleration appliance (its object naming, e.g. cdx6500PSTLANConnectionGroup, points to a "CDX6500"-class optimization platform) that improves application performance over wide-area links via compression, deduplication, and protocol acceleration. It exposes configuration and statistics objects for LAN-side connection groups, along with compression-ratio, deduplication, and accelerated-throughput counters for optimized WAN traffic flows. Monitoring Examples

The cdx6500PSTLANConnectionGroup object grouping suggests the appliance tracks LAN-side connection groups on its interface, from which an admin would monitor active connection counts and their associated optimization statistics. A realistic scenario would have an operator polling this connection-group data to confirm that a given branch's traffic is actively being optimized and to spot a drop in the number of accelerated connections, which could indicate a WAN link outage or a failure in the optimization tunnel between appliance pairs.
