Description: Manages Viptela SD-WAN edge WLAN radio configuration, SSID, and wireless client associations.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is VIPTELA-WLAN?

VIPTELA-WLAN is a Cisco Viptela SD-WAN MIB for managing and monitoring integrated Wi-Fi radios on SD-WAN edge devices that include a WLAN module. The wlanRadiosTable exposes per-radio configuration such as operating mode, frequency band, MAC address, regulatory country, channel, channel bandwidth, frequency, and guard interval, along with associated virtual access points (VAPs). This is primarily configuration-category data useful for confirming the hardware radio settings on an SD-WAN edge's built-in access point, verifying a radio is on the correct channel/band for its regulatory domain and that channel bandwidth matches design intent, which affects wireless client throughput and interference. It is part of Viptela's proprietary SD-WAN MIB family alongside VIPTELA-BRIDGE and VIPTELA-OMP, with no dependency on standard 802.11 MIBs. It's deployed on Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela) branch routers/appliances with integrated Wi-Fi radios. Engineers can download the VIPTELA-WLAN file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in VIPTELA-WLAN. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Viptela SD-WAN branch router/appliance with integrated WLAN radio

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll wlanRadiosTable/wlanRadiosEntry for wlanRadiosBand and wlanRadiosChannel to confirm a branch's radio is operating on the intended frequency and not conflicting with a neighboring AP. wlanRadiosChannelBandwidth and wlanRadiosGuardInterval would be checked if wireless clients report degraded throughput. wlanRadiosVaps shows how many virtual SSIDs are configured on a given physical radio (wlanRadiosMac).

What Can Be Monitored

  • radio operating mode and band
  • channel and channel bandwidth
  • operating frequency
  • guard interval
  • number of configured VAPs/SSIDs per radio
