What Is VIPTELA-OPER-MULTICAST?
This is a Viptela (now Cisco) SD-WAN operational-data MIB modeling PIM and IGMP multicast state across the SD-WAN fabric. It exposes IGMP protocol timers/summary data and a per-VPN multicast RPF (reverse path forwarding) table showing RPF address, status, and next-hop counts. Its monitoring value is primarily software/protocol status rather than physical hardware - a failed RPF status or a next-hop count of zero flags a broken multicast path for a given tenant, and it reveals whether multicast routing has converged correctly per VPN. It parallels standard PIM-MIB/IGMP-MIB concepts, adapted to Viptela's per-VPN SD-WAN operational data model. It is deployed on Viptela vEdge/vSmart SD-WAN routers carrying multicast traffic across multiple VPNs/tenants. Engineers can download the VIPTELA-OPER-MULTICAST file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in VIPTELA-OPER-MULTICAST. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

An admin would poll multicastRpfTable entries indexed by multicastRpfVpnId to check multicastRpfRpfStatus and multicastRpfNexthopCount per VPN - a failure status or zero next-hop count indicates a broken multicast path for that VPN - while igmpSummaryQueryInterval and igmpSummaryQuerierTimeout confirm IGMP querier timers are within expected values and a spike in igmpSummaryLastMemberQueryCount can reveal group membership churn.
