VIPTELA-GLOBAL

Supplies global system parameters, the OID hierarchy, and base definitions underlying Viptela SD-WAN MIBs.

VIPTELA-GLOBAL is a vendor-specific Cisco/Viptela SD-WAN MIB module that defines the top-level 'viptela' enterprise OID node under which Viptela's SD-WAN device MIB family registers its objects. Although the module's description text references application-aware routing operational data, the only object visible in this module itself is the viptela root, meaning the actual application-aware routing (SLA/path selection), tunnel, and system health objects live in sibling Viptela MIB modules imported beneath this root. As such this module's own contribution to hardware/software status monitoring is structural rather than data-bearing — the functional Viptela MIBs beneath it are what expose vEdge/vSmart device uptime, tunnel and interface status, and control-plane health. Every other Viptela MIB module depends on VIPTELA-GLOBAL for its enterprise OID assignment, making it foundational to the whole Viptela/Cisco SD-WAN MIB family. It is deployed wherever Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela) vEdge routers, vSmart controllers, or vManage/vBond components are present, and setting up VIPTELA-GLOBAL SNMP monitoring in practice means compiling this root module first, then polling the functional Viptela MIBs registered beneath it for actual tunnel and routing status.

The only object in this module is the viptela enterprise OID root; it does not itself define application-aware routing tables or scalars despite the module description referencing that data model. Real application-aware routing (SLA class, path performance) or tunnel status monitoring would be found in other Viptela MIB modules that register beneath this OID root. There is no direct polling scenario for this root module in isolation.
