Category: VoIP and Telephony

Description: Manages Vertical Networks ISDN BRI/PRI channel configuration, call status, and signaling.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is VERTICAL-ISDN-MIB?

VERTICAL-ISDN-MIB is a Vertical Networks private MIB for managing ISDN BRI/PRI bearer channels and call signaling on Vertical Networks voice/data gateway platforms. It exposes a bearer channel table covering channel type, operational status, channel number, peer address/sub-address, call origin, information type, multirate settings, and call setup/connect timestamps. It functions as a call/service-status MIB, letting operators monitor real-time ISDN call activity -- whether a channel is in-service, actively connected, or failed to set up -- which is the telephony equivalent of monitoring hardware/software operational status. It depends on ITU-T ISDN signaling concepts (Q.931/Q.921-style bearer and signaling attributes) that it models in SNMP form. It is typically deployed on Vertical Networks voice gateways/PBX-integration systems in enterprise telephony environments using ISDN BRI/PRI trunking. Engineers can download the VERTICAL-ISDN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in VERTICAL-ISDN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Vertical Networks ISDN voice/data gateways

Monitoring Examples

Polling visdnBearerTable/visdnBearerEntry lets an operator check visdnBearerOperStatus per visdnBearerChannelNumber to see which channels are up versus down, and inspect visdnBearerCallSetupTime versus visdnBearerCallConnectTime to measure call setup latency or detect failed call attempts. visdnBearerPeerAddress and visdnBearerCallOrigin identify the far-end number and whether a call was inbound or outbound, useful for diagnosing a channel repeatedly failing to connect to a specific peer.

What Can Be Monitored

  • bearer channel operational status
  • call setup/connect time
  • peer address of active calls
  • call origin (inbound/outbound)
  • channel type/multirate configuration
