Category: Juniper Unisphere ERX Conformance

Description: Defines Unisphere ERX HDLC MIB agent conformance groups and compliance statement specifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Unisphere-Data-HDLC-CONF?

Unisphere-Data-HDLC-CONF is a vendor-specific IETF-style conformance MIB (AGENT-CAPABILITIES/compliance module) defining SNMP agent capabilities for the HDLC (High-Level Data Link Control) component on Unisphere Networks' ERX Routing Switch family (later acquired by Juniper Networks). Rather than exposing runtime data itself, this module declares which HDLC-related managed objects and groups the ERX agent implements and to what compliance level, referencing the actual HDLC data-bearing MIB defined elsewhere. As a conformance module it has no direct hardware/software status objects of its own; its practical use is limited to helping NMS tools and MIB compilers determine which HDLC MIB features a given ERX agent supports. It inherently depends on the companion HDLC MIB module (and standard SMI conformance conventions) that defines the actual HDLC interface objects it describes support for. It would be loaded alongside the primary Unisphere HDLC data MIB when managing ERX routers running HDLC-encapsulated serial or leased-line interfaces, and administrators can download the Unisphere-Data-HDLC-CONF file alongside it for their MIB compiler.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Unisphere-Data-HDLC-CONF. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Unisphere ERX Routing Switch (later Juniper ERX)

Monitoring Examples

This module is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES module rather than a data-bearing MIB, so it defines no pollable runtime objects and there is no realistic monitoring scenario to describe from it directly; its role is purely to declare, for tool and compiler purposes, which objects and groups of the companion Unisphere HDLC MIB the ERX SNMP agent implements.
