Description: Defines SNMP trap notifications for fault events on Sonus Networks VoIP gateways.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is UX-TRAP-MIB?

UX-TRAP-MIB is a Sonus Networks (net.com/UX product line) MIB that defines the enterprise SNMP trap (notification) OIDs for fault and event conditions on the Sonus SBC 1000 and SBC 2000 session border controllers. Rather than exposing polled data tables, it is purely a notification-definition module, registering the trap identifiers that the device sends asynchronously when alarm conditions occur elsewhere in the system (as tracked by the companion UX-OBJECTS-MIB). Its monitoring relevance is therefore in fault/event detection: it is the mechanism by which hardware or software fault conditions (alarms, chassis or DSP issues) are pushed proactively to a management station rather than discovered by polling. It directly depends on and complements UX-OBJECTS-MIB, which defines the underlying object tree and alarm table structures that these traps report on. It is deployed on Sonus SBC 1000/2000 VoIP gateways in carrier and enterprise voice/session border networks. Engineers can download the UX-TRAP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in UX-TRAP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Sonus SBC 1000/2000 session border controller

Monitoring Examples

This module defines the uxTraps notification subtree (under uxObjects/net) rather than runtime data objects; a management station would configure trap-receiver settings to catch these notifications rather than poll them directly. Each trap corresponds to a fault event, such as an alarm becoming active or clearing, referencing the object identity information defined in UX-OBJECTS-MIB. There are no pollable runtime counters in this module itself beyond the trap-object registrations (net, uxObjects, uxTraps).

What Can Be Monitored

  • fault/alarm trap notifications
  • alarm raise and clear events
