Description: Automatic system restart policy for Ubiquoss devices, triggering resets based on CPU load, memory usage, or ICMP thresholds
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is UBQS-AUTO-RESET-MIB?
This is a Ubiquoss enterprise MIB that configures the automatic system-reset (self-healing) policy on Ubiquoss access/aggregation switches, letting the device reboot itself when it detects abnormal operating conditions. It exposes threshold-based configuration objects tied to CPU load, memory usage, and ICMP reachability, plus notification objects for reset events. It directly supports monitoring software/hardware health by watching CPU and memory utilization thresholds that trigger an automatic reset, and by tracking ICMP-based liveness checks used as a watchdog for network-layer failure. It is a small, self-contained enterprise MIB with no explicit dependency on other standard MIBs beyond the vendor's Ubiquoss enterprise tree. Typical deployment is on Ubiquoss switches/DSLAMs in access networks where operators want unattended recovery from software lockups or resource exhaustion. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the UBQS-AUTO-RESET-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in UBQS-AUTO-RESET-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ubiquoss access/aggregation switch
Monitoring Examples
An operator would check ubiAutoResetCpu and ubiAutoResetMemory to see the configured percentage thresholds at which the device auto-reboots, and ubiAutoResetIcmp to see the ICMP-failure-based reset trigger. If a switch reboots unexpectedly and often, comparing these thresholds against actual sustained CPU/memory load helps determine whether the auto-reset policy is too aggressive. The available sample objects are configuration leaves rather than a history table, so this MIB is used mainly to view/tune reset policy rather than trend data over time.
What Can Be Monitored
- CPU load reset threshold
- memory usage reset threshold
- ICMP failure reset threshold
- auto-reset trigger notifications
