Description: ARP cache table and ARP snooping configuration for Ubiquoss switches, mapping IP addresses to MAC addresses and interfaces

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is UBQS-ARP-MIB?

UBQS-ARP-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module from Ubiquoss for their managed switch product line, focused on the Address Resolution Protocol cache and ARP snooping/inspection feature. It exposes the switch's dynamic ARP table mapping IP addresses to MAC addresses and physical interfaces, plus configuration objects controlling ARP snooping behavior used for security filtering. As a monitoring aid it lets an operator verify address resolution health and detect anomalies like ARP spoofing, duplicate IP conflicts, or unexpected MAC-to-IP bindings on a given port, rather than tracking hardware health metrics like temperature or CPU load. It is a switch-specific companion to the standard IETF IP-MIB/RFC1213 ipNetToMediaTable rather than a hardware/hardware-status MIB. It is typically deployed on Ubiquoss access/aggregation switches in service provider or enterprise networks where ARP-based Layer 2 security enforcement is needed. Engineers can download the UBQS-ARP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in UBQS-ARP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ubiquoss managed Ethernet switch

Monitoring Examples

An operator can walk the ARP entry table (ubiArpEntryMIBObjects) to see current IP-to-MAC-to-port bindings and cross-check them against expected host inventories to spot rogue devices or ARP spoofing attempts. The ubiArpSnoopMIBObjects branch exposes ARP snooping configuration and counters, letting an admin confirm the feature is enabled on untrusted ports and review how many suspicious ARP packets have been dropped. A sudden churn of MAC addresses bound to a single IP in the ARP table is a classic sign of an ARP spoofing attack that this MIB would surface.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IP-to-MAC ARP bindings
  • ARP entry interface/port mapping
  • ARP snooping status
  • ARP snooping violation counts
