Category: Industrial and Sensor Devices

Description: Manages HWg Th2e temperature and humidity sensor readings and alarm thresholds.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Th2e-v01-MIB?

This module manages the HWg (Papouch/HW group) Th2e, a small SNMP-enabled sensor device that measures temperature and humidity and can drive alarm outputs based on configurable thresholds. It exposes per-channel sensor readings and units, alarm limit configuration (high, low, and hysteresis), device naming, and an alarm/status string, along with versioning information. Its core purpose is hardware condition monitoring — specifically environmental monitoring: it reports current temperature/humidity channel values and whether they have crossed configured high/low alarm thresholds, which is the entire function of this device class (typically deployed to watch server-room or equipment-cabinet climate). It has no dependency on other vendor MIBs beyond standard SNMP conventions (it originates from the Papouch "papouchProjekt" enterprise branch) and is a self-contained small-sensor MIB. It is typically deployed in server rooms, network closets, or equipment cabinets as a compact environmental monitoring probe feeding temperature/humidity alarms into a broader NMS. Engineers can download the Th2e-v01-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Th2e-v01-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HWg (Papouch) Th2e temperature/humidity sensor unit

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll the per-channel inChValue and inChUnits objects (via the channel table, similar to inChStatus entries) to read current temperature and humidity readings, and check inChStatus alongside the limitHi/limitLo/limitHy threshold objects to see whether a channel is in alarm; the psAlarmString object would surface a human-readable description of the active alarm condition (e.g., over-temperature in a server cabinet), and deviceName identifies which physical sensor unit reported it.

What Can Be Monitored

  • temperature reading per channel
  • humidity reading per channel
  • channel alarm status
  • high/low/hysteresis alarm thresholds
  • active alarm description string

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using inChStatus OID:

Select a HWg (Papouch) Th2e temperature/humidity sensor unit (channel reading/alarm-threshold status) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type inChStatus into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. It reports the current channel status: OK, not available, an over-flow condition, an under-flow condition, or an error. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an INTEGER-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value indicates anything other than OK, since an over-flow, under-flow, or error condition needs attention. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
