Description: Manages Trapeze Networks WLAN controller system configuration, software version, and operational state.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TRAPEZE-NETWORKS-SYSTEM-MIB?
TRAPEZE-NETWORKS-SYSTEM-MIB is a Trapeze Networks (a wireless LAN vendor later acquired by Juniper) proprietary MIB covering core system-level management of Trapeze wireless switches and controllers. It exposes system resource data including CPU and flash memory utilization, CPU load averages over multiple time windows, and general system/data object counters used internally by the controller's management software. This MIB is explicitly geared toward monitoring hardware and software health of the wireless controller: it reports CPU memory used/total bytes, flash memory used/total bytes, instantaneous CPU load, and CPU load averaged over the last minute, 5 minutes, hour, day, and 3 days, giving a detailed load-trend picture useful for detecting performance degradation or resource exhaustion. As a proprietary system MIB it stands largely on its own, though it complements standard SNMPv2-MIB system group data. It is typically deployed in enterprise wireless networks to monitor the health and capacity headroom of Trapeze WLAN controllers managing access points. Engineers can download the TRAPEZE-NETWORKS-SYSTEM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TRAPEZE-NETWORKS-SYSTEM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Trapeze Networks wireless LAN controller/switch
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll trpzSysCpuInstantLoad alongside trpzSysCpuLastMinuteLoad, trpzSysCpuLast5MinutesLoad, and trpzSysCpuLastHourLoad to see whether a spike in controller CPU usage is transient or sustained. Comparing trpzSysCpuMemoryUsedBytes against trpzSysCpuMemoryTotalBytes and trpzSysFlashMemoryUsedBytes against trpzSysFlashMemoryTotalBytes reveals whether the controller is approaching memory or flash storage exhaustion. A sustained rise in trpzSysCpuLastDayLoad or trpzSysCpuLast3DaysLoad combined with high memory usage would flag a controller under chronic load, potentially from too many associated access points or clients.
What Can Be Monitored
- CPU load (instant, 1min, 5min, hourly, daily, 3-day)
- CPU memory used/total bytes
- flash memory used/total bytes
- system resource utilization
