Description: Defines TippingPoint TANK component notification trap objects for hardware event alerting.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TPT-TANK-NOTIFY-MIB?

TPT-TANK-NOTIFY-MIB is a Trend Micro TippingPoint MIB defining SNMP trap notifications for the TANK hardware component used in TippingPoint's X-Series security appliances. Rather than polled data tables, it defines notification/trap objects that fire on state changes for external virtual interface (VI) status and web-filtering subsystem status. Its monitoring value is fault/event-driven: it lets administrators receive near real-time alerts about hardware or subsystem failures, such as loss of an external virtual interface link or a web-filter component going down, rather than requiring continuous polling. It is tightly coupled to the rest of the TippingPoint X-Series MIB set that defines the underlying objects these traps reference. It is deployed in enterprise network security environments running X-Series TippingPoint appliances where trap-based alerting is configured into a central NMS or SIEM. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the TPT-TANK-NOTIFY-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TPT-TANK-NOTIFY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • TippingPoint (Trend Micro) X-Series security appliance

Monitoring Examples

This module is a notification-definition MIB rather than a polled data table, so it does not have ordinary monitorable objects to poll; instead, an NMS would be configured to receive tptTankNotifyExternalVIStatus and tptTankNotifyWebFilterStatus traps as asynchronous events. Receiving a tptTankNotifyExternalVIStatus trap would alert an operator to a change in the external virtual interface link state, while a tptTankNotifyWebFilterStatus trap would indicate the web-filtering subsystem changed state (e.g., failed or recovered). No continuous scalar/table polling scenario applies here beyond trap reception.

What Can Be Monitored

  • external virtual interface status change events
  • web filter subsystem status change events
