Description: Manages TippingPoint IPS host system information, OS version, and platform identification.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TPT-HOST-MIB?

TPT-HOST-MIB is a Trend Micro TippingPoint MIB that describes the management-port host configuration of an IPS appliance. It exposes networking and platform configuration data: IP addressing (IPv4/IPv6) for the management interface, gateway settings, IPv6 auto-configuration state, and FIPS compliance mode. Its monitoring value is primarily configuration/software-status oriented, letting administrators confirm the management interface is correctly addressed and reachable, and that the device's FIPS cryptographic mode matches compliance requirements, which is a software/security posture check rather than a hardware health check. It complements other TippingPoint MIBs (such as TPT-BAY-MIB for hardware and TPT-TSE-MIB for inspection engine data) to give a fuller device picture. It is deployed in enterprise security environments, especially regulated ones, where FIPS mode and management connectivity of TippingPoint IPS appliances must be verified via SNMP. Engineers can download the TPT-HOST-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TPT-HOST-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • TippingPoint (Trend Micro) IPS appliance

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll hostIpTable/hostIpEntry (indexed by hostIpIndex) to see each configured management IP address, its type, and whether it is hostIpActive, alongside hostIPv4Gateway/hostIPv6Gateway to confirm gateway reachability. Checking hostFipsMode and hostFipsCfgMode would confirm whether the appliance is running in FIPS-compliant cryptographic mode, which matters for regulated deployments. A management IP shown as inactive would explain a loss of SNMP/management connectivity to the appliance.

What Can Be Monitored

  • management port IP address(es)
  • IPv4/IPv6 gateway configuration
  • IPv6 auto-configuration state
  • management IP active status
  • FIPS compliance mode
