What Is TPLINK-VOICEVLAN-MIB?
TPLINK-VOICEVLAN-MIB is a TP-Link vendor-specific MIB for configuring Voice VLAN on managed switches, a feature that automatically classifies traffic from recognized IP phones (via MAC OUI matching) into a dedicated voice VLAN with appropriate QoS priority. Configuration objects include the voice VLAN ID, OUI table entries used for phone detection, aging time, and per-port voice-VLAN mode. Its monitoring value is confirming that phone traffic is actually being classified and prioritized correctly; a phone not appearing in the OUI-matched state on its port would explain poor call quality from a lack of prioritization. It's a TP-Link-specific convenience feature layered on standard 802.1Q VLAN tagging and QoS mechanisms rather than an IETF standard itself. It's deployed on TP-Link managed switches in offices using VoIP handsets alongside data devices on the same access port. Engineers can download the TPLINK-VOICEVLAN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TPLINK-VOICEVLAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- TP-Link managed switches
Monitoring Examples
An administrator checks the voice VLAN OUI table to confirm a deployed phone vendor's MAC prefix is registered, then verifies the per-port voice-VLAN mode (auto/manual) on an access port to confirm the connected phone was automatically placed into the voice VLAN. If a phone's port still shows the default data-VLAN mode, it points to an OUI mismatch or the port's voice-VLAN feature being disabled, either of which would degrade call audio quality from lack of priority queuing.
What Can Be Monitored
- voice VLAN ID configuration
- OUI table entries for phone detection
- per-port voice VLAN mode
- voice VLAN aging time
