Description: Manages TP-Link switch RIP routing protocol version, timers, interface enablement, and redistribution.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TPLINK-RIP-MIB?
TPLINK-RIP-MIB is a TP-Link vendor-specific MIB for configuring the RIP (Routing Information Protocol) dynamic-routing feature on Layer-3-capable managed switches, covering protocol version, timer settings, per-interface enablement, and route redistribution. As a routing-protocol configuration MIB, its main monitoring value is confirming RIP is enabled on the correct interfaces with consistent timers, since a timer mismatch or unexpectedly disabled interface would explain missing or flapping routes. It implements the IETF RIP/RIPv2 standard (RFC 2453), complementing the standard RIP2-MIB in environments that lack it. It's deployed on TP-Link Layer-3 switches used as simple dynamic-routing gateways in small-to-medium enterprise networks. Engineers can download the TPLINK-RIP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TPLINK-RIP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- TP-Link Layer-3 managed switches/routers
Monitoring Examples
An administrator checks the per-interface RIP enable object and the configured RIP version (v1/v2) to confirm a routed VLAN interface is participating in RIP as expected, and reviews the update/invalid/garbage-collection timer objects to verify they match the rest of the RIP domain. A route-redistribution object left enabled unintentionally could explain static or connected routes unexpectedly appearing in neighboring routers' RIP tables.
What Can Be Monitored
- RIP version configuration
- per-interface RIP enable state
- update/invalid/garbage-collection timers
- route redistribution settings
