Description: Manages Nokia SAS IEEE 802.1X port access entity supplicant and authenticator state.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TN-SAS-IEEE8021-PAE-MIB?
TN-SAS-IEEE8021-PAE-MIB is a Nokia enterprise MIB that extends the standard IEEE8021-PAE-MIB (Port Access Entity MIB for IEEE 802.1X) for the 7210 SAS device family. It exposes tnDot1xAuthConfigExtnTable, adding a tnDot1xPortEtherTunnel object that binds an authenticated 802.1X port's traffic to a specific Ethernet tunnel/service. It is used to monitor software configuration status of port-based network access control: checking the extension table alongside the base IEEE8021-PAE-MIB authenticator state reveals whether a port that's failing or passing 802.1X authentication also has the correct tunnel binding, which affects where authenticated traffic is switched. As stated in its module description, it explicitly extends the standard IEEE8021-PAE-MIB rather than defining an independent access-control model. It is deployed on Nokia 7210 SAS service aggregation switches performing 802.1X port authentication for enterprise or subscriber access. Engineers can download the TN-SAS-IEEE8021-PAE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TN-SAS-IEEE8021-PAE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Nokia 7210 SAS service aggregation switch
Monitoring Examples
An admin would check tnDot1xAuthConfigExtnTable for a given port's tnDot1xPortEtherTunnel value to confirm an authenticated 802.1X supplicant's traffic is bound to the correct Ethernet tunnel/service. If a port shows as successfully authenticated in the base IEEE8021-PAE-MIB but its tunnel binding here is missing or wrong, that would explain why authenticated traffic isn't reaching its intended service. This module has no data objects of its own beyond the authenticator-extension table, so monitoring here is limited to the tunnel-binding configuration rather than a broad hardware/performance dataset.
What Can Be Monitored
- 802.1X port authenticator config extension
- Ethernet tunnel binding per authenticated port
