Description: The value of tnPortEtherDot1xTunnel specifies whether the DOT1X packet tunneling for the ethernet port is enabled or disabled. When tunneling is enabled, the port will not process any DOT1X packets but will tunnel them through instead.

What is tnDot1xPortEtherTunnel?

This flag controls whether 802.1X authentication packets arriving on this Ethernet port are handled locally by the device or simply tunneled through unmodified to whatever is on the other side of the link. When tunneling is turned on, the switch stops terminating or inspecting DOT1X frames on that port, which is useful in transparent-service scenarios where those frames must reach equipment further downstream untouched. For example, enabling this on a specific port would let a customer's own 802.1X authentication exchange pass straight through a provider's switch rather than being intercepted by it.
