Description: The interface's hardware or system assigned MAC address at its protocol sub-layer. When tmnxPortUserAssignedMac has a value of 'true', the value of tmnxPortMacAddress is used instead of tmnxPortHwMacAddress.
In the case of a pre-provisioned port that is not yet physically in the system, the MAC address may not be known. In this case a MAC address of all zeros is returned.
What is tmnxPortHwMacAddress?
This object contains the factory-assigned hardware MAC address of the network port at its protocol layer, used when no custom MAC address has been assigned by the administrator. If the port is pre-provisioned but not yet physically installed, this returns all zeros because the MAC address cannot be determined. An operator would check this to identify the physical port's built-in MAC address for device registration or as a fallback when user-assigned MAC addresses are not in use.
