This counter tracks the number of octets (bytes) that exceed the Committed Information Rate (CIR) and are forwarded by the egress Qchip at a port, representing out-of-profile traffic that is subject to higher discard rates if congestion occurs. This object is marked obsolete in the MIB but may still be queried on legacy systems. Service operators monitor this counter to detect excess traffic above contracted rates and to identify subscribers or applications exceeding their traffic profiles.
