tmnxDot1agCfmGraceTxEnable

Module: TIMETRA-IEEE8021-CFM-MIB

OID (symbolic): TIMETRA-IEEE8021-CFM-MIB::tmnxDot1agCfmGraceTxEnable

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.6527.3.1.2.52.2.4.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TruthValue

Access: read-write

Description: The value of tmnxDot1agCfmGraceTxEnable specifies whether or not grace period notifications will be sent to the ETH-CFM remote MEP peers. The value 'true' enables grace period notifications, and the value 'false' suppresses the notifications.

During an outage, the modification of this object from 'true' to 'false' will cause an immediate clear of all grace period notifications, after which no further notifications will be sent. A modification of this object from 'false' to 'true' will not enable the transmission of grace period for any outages currently in progress but will take effect for subsequent outages.

What is tmnxDot1agCfmGraceTxEnable?

This boolean specifies whether grace-period notifications are sent to remote CFM peers; setting it from true to false during an outage immediately clears all in-progress grace notifications and suppresses further ones, while setting it from false to true only applies to future outages, not ones already in progress. An admin enables this to tell CFM peers a maintenance operation on this node is planned and shouldn't be treated as a real fault, reducing false alarms during controlled maintenance windows. Because toggling it doesn't retroactively affect an outage already underway, it needs to be enabled before a planned maintenance event starts, not during it.
