tmnxDot1agCfmGracePeriod

Module: TIMETRA-IEEE8021-CFM-MIB

OID (symbolic): TIMETRA-IEEE8021-CFM-MIB::tmnxDot1agCfmGracePeriod

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.6527.3.1.2.52.2.4.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TruthValue

Access: read-only

Description: The value of tmnxDot1agCfmGracePeriod indicates whether or not the node is locally executing a grace period. A value of 'true' indicates that all peer timeouts are extended locally and eligible MEPs are transmitting grace period information. A value of 'false' indicates no grace period information is transmitted and standard values are used for timing out remote peers.

Note that for a local MEP to be eligible for grace period transmission it must be admin up and ccm-enabled. Additionally, for any transmission to occur tmnxDot1agCfmGraceTxEnable must be set to 'true'.

What is tmnxDot1agCfmGracePeriod?

This boolean indicates whether the node is currently, locally executing a grace period: true means peer timeouts are being extended and eligible MEPs are transmitting grace-period information, false means standard remote-peer timeout values are in effect. An admin checks this to confirm whether the node believes it's currently in a maintenance grace window, which requires the relevant MEP to be admin-up, CCM-enabled, and tmnxDot1agCfmGraceTxEnable set to true for any transmission to actually occur. Seeing this unexpectedly true outside of a planned maintenance window is worth investigating, since it suppresses normal CFM fault reporting while active.
