Category: Teldat Router Management, Teldat Trap Notifications

Description: Defines Teldat router SYNC (synchronization) event trap notifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-TRAP-SYNC-MIB?

TELDAT-TRAP-SYNC-MIB is a Teldat enterprise-specific SNMP module that defines trap notifications emitted by the router's synchronous (SYNC) serial interface event subsystem, covering the low-level clocking/framing layer used by leased-line and other synchronous WAN links. Like its sibling Teldat trap MIBs, it is oriented around fault and event reporting rather than a rich polling schema, exposing per-line interface identifiers bundled into notification objects. Its monitoring value lies in flagging synchronous-interface faults (loss of sync, interface state transitions) as they happen, giving visibility into link-level hardware health for the serial WAN ports rather than general device vitals like CPU or memory. It relies on the shared Teldat enterprise MIB tree and standard SNMP notification (NOTIFICATION-TYPE) conventions for its trap delivery mechanism. It is deployed on Teldat routers terminating synchronous serial WAN circuits, where a trap receiver loaded from a TELDAT-TRAP-SYNC-MIB download watches for sync loss or interface anomaly events.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-SYNC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat WAN router
  • Teldat router with synchronous serial WAN interfaces

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would watch for notifications referencing sync2-interface to be told immediately when synchronous interface 2 experiences a state change such as loss of clock or carrier. Since the module exposes only interface identifiers per sync line (sync1-interface, sync3-interface), the operator uses the trap arrival itself, correlated with sync events group timestamps, as the primary diagnostic signal for a flapping synchronous circuit. There is no separate statistics table here — all monitoring is trap-driven via syncNotifications.

What Can Be Monitored

  • synchronous interface identifier per event
  • sync line state-change notifications
  • sync subsystem fault events
