Description: Defines Teldat router GBGP (Generic BGP) event trap notifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-TRAP-GBGP-MIB?

The TELDAT-TRAP-GBGP-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP notification module for Teldat routers' BGP routing subsystem (GBGP, Generic BGP), defining traps for significant BGP protocol events. It exposes purely event-driven data — remote peer address and name, autonomous system number, packet type, parser errors, and error messages — rather than ongoing routing table state. Its monitoring focus is the software/protocol health of the router's BGP process: peer session establishment, malformed BGP packets (parser errors), and peer-reported error conditions, critical software-status indicators for a router acting as a BGP speaker. It relates conceptually to the standard BGP4-MIB's peer state model, though implemented as Teldat's own enterprise trap set rather than an extension of it. It is deployed on Teldat routers participating in BGP routing (e.g. ISP or enterprise WAN edges) so peering flaps or protocol errors trigger immediate SNMP alerts, and network teams can download the TELDAT-TRAP-GBGP-MIB file for their trap-monitoring systems.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-GBGP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat router (BGP-speaking edge/WAN router)

Monitoring Examples

A trap containing gbgp2-RemotePeerAddress and gbgp2-AutonomousSystem tells an operator which BGP peer and AS triggered the event, while gbgp3-ParserErrors flags malformed incoming BGP messages from a peer. Traps carrying gbgp6-RemotePeerName and gbgp6-ErrorMessage give a human-readable peer identifier and error text, useful for diagnosing a flapping or misconfigured BGP session without polling the full routing table.

What Can Be Monitored

  • BGP peer address/name
  • peer autonomous system number
  • BGP packet type
  • parser error counts
  • peer error messages
