t11vfCoreSwitchMaxSupported
Module: T11-IETF-IMSS-FC-VIRTUAL-FABRIC-MIB
OID (symbolic): T11-IETF-IMSS-FC-VIRTUAL-FABRIC-MIB::t11vfCoreSwitchMaxSupported
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.0.1.1.1.2
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: Unsigned32
Access: read-write
Description: In switches that do not support Virtual Fabrics, this object has the value of 1. If Virtual Fabrics are supported, this object is the maximum number of Virtual Fabrics supported by the Core Switch. For the purpose of this count, the Control VF_ID is ignored.
What is t11vfCoreSwitchMaxSupported?
This read-write value reports, or on switches without Virtual Fabrics support is fixed at 1, the maximum number of Virtual Fabrics that a Fibre Channel Core Switch can support, excluding the Control VF_ID from the count. An admin or management system uses this to know the ceiling on how many separate Virtual Fabric partitions can be provisioned on that particular core switch before planning fabric segmentation. For example, a core switch reporting t11vfCoreSwitchMaxSupported as 8 tells the admin they can create up to 8 Virtual Fabrics, beyond the always-present Control VF_ID, on that switch.
