networkIPv4AddressOrigin

Module: SYMMCOMMONNETWORK

OID (symbolic): SYMMCOMMONNETWORK::networkIPv4AddressOrigin

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9070.1.2.5.4.1.3.1.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: IpAddressOriginTC

Description: The origin of this IPv4 address can be one of the following:

-manual(2) indicates that the address was manually configured to a specified address, e.g., by user configuration.

-dhcp(4) indicates an address that was assigned to this system by a DHCP server.

-linklayer(5) indicates an address created by IPv6 stateless auto-configuration.

-random(6) indicates an address chosen by the system at random, e.g., an IPv4 address within 169.254/16, or an RFC 3041 privacy address. See existing object description

What is networkIPv4AddressOrigin?

How this interface's IPv4 address was obtained — manually configured, from DHCP, link-layer auto-config, or randomly self-assigned — useful for spotting an interface that unexpectedly fell back to a link-local address instead of getting its intended static or DHCP address.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9070.1.2.5.4.1.3.1.1.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> SYMMCOMMONNETWORK::networkIPv4AddressOrigin

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9070.1.2.5.4.1.3.1.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> SYMMCOMMONNETWORK::networkIPv4AddressOrigin.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9070.1.2.5.4.1.3.1.1.2.1 a <value>
