What Is SWITCH-IFEXTEND-MIB?
SWITCH-IFEXTEND-MIB is a Raisecom module that supplements the standard IETF IF-MIB with additional Raisecom-specific per-interface attributes on their switch and media-converter products. It exposes an extended interface table keyed by an interface index aligned with the standard ifIndex, adding attributes such as an extended interface description beyond what IF-MIB's ifDescr provides. Its monitoring emphasis is interface-level software/configuration status - confirming that extended interface descriptions and attributes correctly reflect a port's physical role, which is particularly useful for disambiguating interfaces on stacked or multi-slot Raisecom equipment. It explicitly extends the standard IF-MIB, using its own index (rcIfindex) to align entries with the corresponding ifIndex. It is deployed on Raisecom carrier-access switches and media converters where operators need richer per-interface identification than base IF-MIB provides. Engineers can download the SWITCH-IFEXTEND-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

Monitoring Examples
rcIfExtendTable/rcIfExtendEntry, indexed by rcIfindex (mirroring the standard ifIndex), lets an operator read rcIfDescription for each interface to get a Raisecom-specific label supplementing the generic IF-MIB ifDescr. When troubleshooting a specific port, an operator cross-references rcIfindex against ifIndex to confirm they're inspecting the correct physical interface, then checks rcIfDescription to identify its assigned role. This is especially useful on stacked or multi-slot Raisecom devices where standard IF-MIB descriptions alone can be ambiguous.
