All MIBs › SW-COMMON-MIB
Category: Switch Management - D-Link
Description: Defines common switch management objects and shared base structures for D-Link switch platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is SW-COMMON-MIB?
This is a D-Link enterprise MIB providing common/shared object definitions, textual conventions, and base structures used across D-Link's family of managed switch MIB modules. It does not itself expose device counters or status; instead it centralizes shared type definitions and index conventions that other D-Link switch-specific MIBs, such as per-model port, VLAN, or QoS MIBs, import to stay consistent. Because it is a foundational/common module, it carries no direct monitorable hardware or software status objects like uptime, temperature, or CPU load; those are exposed in the switch-specific MIBs built on top of it. Nearly all other D-Link switch product MIB modules depend on this common module for shared definitions. It is deployed alongside D-Link managed Ethernet switch product MIB packages, loaded as a prerequisite whenever a D-Link switch-specific MIB is compiled or used for SNMP monitoring. Engineers can download the SW-COMMON-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SW-COMMON-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- D-Link ES2000 'Golf' series managed switch (Marconi enterprise OID branding)
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided for this module, consistent with it being a common/base MIB with no data objects of its own; the concrete monitorable counters live in the D-Link switch-model-specific MIBs that import definitions from this module, so no monitoring scenario can be given honestly here.
