What Is STONESOFT-SMI-MIB?
STONESOFT-SMI-MIB is the Structure of Management Information module defining the enterprise OID hierarchy for Stonesoft NGFW products, now part of Forcepoint's next-generation firewall and load-balancing security line. It belongs to the network security/firewall-and-load-balancing technology area. As an SMI registration module it establishes the organizational tree — modules, experimental branch, products, generic objects, and a dedicated load-balancer branch — under which Stonesoft/Forcepoint's actual data-bearing security MIBs are built, rather than exposing runtime monitoring data itself. It therefore has no direct hardware/software status objects of its own; those, such as firewall CPU load, session counts, or cluster health, live in dependent MIB modules rooted under stonesoftProducts and stonesoftLoadBalancer. STONESOFT-SMI-MIB SNMP tooling is generally limited to OID resolution during MIB compilation, since the module itself carries no pollable instance data. It depends on the standard SNMPv2-SMI enterprise-registration convention and is a prerequisite for any other Stonesoft-specific MIB. It is used in enterprise/data-center security deployments running Forcepoint Stonesoft NGFW firewalls and load balancers.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in STONESOFT-SMI-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Forcepoint NGFW (formerly Stonesoft NGFW) firewall/load-balancer platforms, entire product line — brand discontinued, current product line renamed
Monitoring Examples
STONESOFT-SMI-MIB itself defines only OID branches — stonesoft, stonesoftModules, stonesoftExperimental, stonesoftProducts, stonesoftGeneric, stonesoftLoadBalancer — rather than instance data, so there is no direct polling scenario here; an administrator would instead poll the dependent MIBs rooted under stonesoftProducts or stonesoftLoadBalancer for actual firewall/load-balancer health and performance data.
