Category: IPsec / VPN, Spring Tide Networks

Description: Manages Spring Tide Networks IKE key exchange policy, phase negotiation state, and SA parameters.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is STN-IKE-MIB?

STN-IKE-MIB is a proprietary Spring Tide Networks MIB (Spring Tide made carrier-class IP services switches, later part of Lucent/Avaya) for managing IKE (Internet Key Exchange) parameters used in IPsec VPN tunnel establishment on the device. It exposes configuration and state data related to IKE policy definitions, phase 1/phase 2 negotiation state, and security association (SA) parameters rather than general hardware telemetry. Its monitoring value lies chiefly in confirming the software/protocol status of IPsec tunnel negotiation - whether IKE phases complete successfully and SAs are established and remain valid, which is critical for VPN service availability on the switch. It depends on the IETF IKE/IPsec standards (RFC 2409 and related) that define the phase/SA concepts it models. Typical deployment is on Spring Tide IP services switches providing carrier or enterprise IPsec VPN termination. Engineers can download the STN-IKE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in STN-IKE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Spring Tide Networks IP services switch

Monitoring Examples

No sample object or table names were provided in the source data for this module, so specific OID-level detail cannot be given with confidence; based on the short description, a realistic use would be polling IKE phase negotiation state and SA parameter tables to confirm VPN tunnels are successfully negotiated and to catch a tunnel stuck in an incomplete phase-1 or phase-2 state.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IKE phase 1/phase 2 negotiation state
  • security association (SA) parameters
  • IKE policy configuration
