Description: Manages SSH protocol server configuration, active sessions, and cryptographic algorithm negotiation per IETF standards.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is SSH-MIB?
SSH-MIB is a switch-vendor proprietary MIB (built on SWPRIMGMT-MIB, a common FastPath-family base) configuring the SSH (Secure Shell) server on the switch. Its objects cover an SSH admin enable, max connections, connection timeout, max authentication-failure attempts, session-key rekeying, port number, a regenerate-host-key action, per-cipher admin enable flags (3DES, Blowfish, AES-128/192/256, Arcfour, CAST-128, Twofish-128/192/256), authentication-method enable flags (password, public key, host-based), integrity-algorithm enables (SHA1, MD5), public-key algorithm enables (DSA, RSA), and a user-control table. As a configuration/security MIB it lets an administrator confirm which SSH ciphers and authentication methods are permitted on the switch. It is deployed on FastPath-family managed switches with SSH management access. Engineers can download the SSH-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SSH-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- FastPath-family managed switches (SSH management access)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator checks swSSHEncryptAlgAES256Admin and swSSHAuthenMethodPubKeyAdmin to confirm strong ciphers and key-based auth are enabled for SSH management access on a FastPath-family switch.
What Can Be Monitored
- SSH cipher and authentication-method configuration
