Description: Registers SIAE MICROELETTRONICA unit type OID assignments for microwave radio node identification.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is SIAE-UNITYPE-MIB?
SIAE-UNITYPE-MIB is a SIAE MICROELETTRONICA registration MIB that defines the OBJECT IDENTITY tree of unit-type codes for the company's microwave radio node hardware. Rather than exposing runtime data itself, it provides the enumerated catalog of hardware/unit types that other SIAE MIBs and management systems reference (for example, to populate a value like sysObjectID or entPhysicalVendorType) so a management station can identify precisely which SIAE hardware model is being managed. Its role in monitoring is therefore indirect: it enables correct identification of hardware type as a prerequisite for interpreting other MIBs' status, alarm, and performance data for that specific unit. It is a dependency that other SIAE-specific MIBs (radio, encryption, chassis, etc.) rely on for consistent unit-type identification, and it aligns with the standard ENTITY-MIB convention of vendor-type registration. It is used across the full range of SIAE microwave radio node deployments wherever automated inventory or model identification is required. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the SIAE-UNITYPE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SIAE-UNITYPE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples
This module is a pure OID registration tree rather than a source of live operational data, so it has no runtime objects to poll for a monitoring scenario. Its practical use is that a management system reads a device's reported unit-type OID (drawn from this registration) to determine which SIAE hardware model is installed, which then determines how to interpret that device's other status and alarm MIBs correctly.
