Category: Microwave Radio - SIAE MICROELETTRONICA

Description: Manages SIAE MICROELETTRONICA SFP transceiver inventory, optical power levels, and diagnostics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SIAE-SFP-MIB?

SIAE-SFP-MIB is a vendor MIB from SIAE MICROELETTRONICA, an Italian maker of microwave and optical transmission equipment, covering the small form-factor pluggable (SFP) optical transceiver modules used in its network devices. It exposes SFP module inventory information alongside real-time optical diagnostic parameters and alarm conditions for the transceiver hardware. This MIB is squarely aimed at monitoring transceiver hardware health, letting an operator detect degrading optical signal quality or an overheating/failing module before a link goes down. It is explicitly built on industry references including the SFP Multi-Source Agreement, Finisar's AN-2030 application note, and the SFF-8472 Digital Diagnostic Monitoring Interface and SFF-8024 specifications rather than being a purely proprietary design. It would be deployed on SIAE microwave/transport network elements, where polling the SIAE-SFP-MIB OID tree gives NOC staff early warning of optical-link degradation via SNMP.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SIAE-SFP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • SIAE MICROELETTRONICA microwave/optical transport network element
  • SFP-based optical transceiver
  • SIAE Microelettronica microwave radio equipment (SFP modules)

Monitoring Examples

No sample object names were supplied, so exact object identifiers cannot be cited; based on the referenced SFF-8472 diagnostic monitoring standard, a realistic scenario is polling per-module transmit/receive optical power and temperature and comparing them to vendor thresholds to catch a laser or receiver nearing failure before the microwave/optical link drops.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SFP module inventory (vendor, serial number)
  • transmit optical power
  • receive optical power
  • laser bias current
  • module temperature
  • diagnostic alarm/threshold status
