Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is S5-TOKENRING-COMMON-MIB?
S5-TOKENRING-COMMON-MIB is a Bay Networks/SynOptics (S5, 'Series 5000') proprietary MIB reporting per-port Token Ring hardware status, common across S5000-series Token Ring boards. Its port table, keyed by board/port index, records wrap status/time, ring-insertion status, phantom-drive status and change count, trunk-access-method strap/actual setting, port class/media/connector type, software-insertion capability, and auto-fault-detect (AFD) status, while an FPU (Fiber Port Unit) table records type, version, capabilities, and running mode. As a hardware-status MIB it lets an administrator confirm a Token Ring port's insertion and wrap status when diagnosing a port that won't join the ring. It is deployed on Bay Networks/SynOptics S5000-series Token Ring boards. Engineers can download the S5-TOKENRING-COMMON-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in S5-TOKENRING-COMMON-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Bay Networks/SynOptics S5000-series Token Ring boards
Monitoring Examples
An administrator checks s5TrPortInsrtStatus and s5TrPortWrapStatus to diagnose a Token Ring port that fails to insert into the ring on a Bay Networks/SynOptics S5000 board.
What Can Be Monitored
- per-port Token Ring insertion/wrap/phantom status
