Description: Manages configuration and operational status for Siemens RuggedCom ruggedized industrial Ethernet switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is RUGGEDCOM-MIB?
RUGGEDCOM-MIB is the enterprise structure-of-management-information module for Siemens RuggedCom, a line of ruggedized industrial Ethernet switches designed for harsh environments like utility substations, rail, and industrial automation sites. It primarily registers the OID hierarchy for RuggedCom product families (e.g. RX1000/RX1100, RX5000, MX5000 series) rather than exposing runtime data itself. As a structure/registration module it does not directly carry hardware or software status objects, but it is the foundation under which RuggedCom's operational MIBs (covering switch port status, environmental conditions, and software version for these ruggedized devices) register their OIDs. It follows the standard SNMPv2-SMI enterprise numbering convention used across Siemens/RuggedCom's MIB family. It is used as a prerequisite structural MIB when compiling or navigating the full RuggedCom device MIB set for industrial network monitoring. Engineers can download the RUGGEDCOM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RUGGEDCOM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Siemens RuggedCom RX1000/RX1100/RX5000/MX5000 ruggedized industrial Ethernet switches (registration module only)
Monitoring Examples
This module lists product-family OID nodes such as ruggedcomRX1XXX, ruggedcomRX1000, ruggedcomRX1100, ruggedcomRX5XXX, ruggedcomRX5000, and ruggedcomMX5000, which are pure identity/registration arcs rather than pollable data objects. It cannot itself be used for a monitoring scenario since it defines no counters or status leaves; the actual operational data (port status, environmental sensors, software version) would live in a separate RuggedCom device or system MIB that registers beneath these arcs. Network management tools use this module chiefly to recognize which specific RuggedCom hardware model a device identifies as via its sysObjectID.
