Description: Registers product identity OIDs for the Riverstone Networks RS series router product family.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RIVERSTONE-PRODUCTS-MIB?

RIVERSTONE-PRODUCTS-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Riverstone Networks Inc. that registers the sysObjectID values identifying members of the RS-series multi-layer switch/router product line. It does not expose live operational data itself; rather it provides the OID-to-product-model mapping that an NMS uses to identify exactly which Riverstone RS platform it is communicating with. This is a foundational identification step for monitoring: knowing the specific hardware model lets a management system select the correct polling templates for further hardware and software status checks (interfaces, environment, routing) on that device. It depends on the RSTONE-SMI-MIB enterprise OID tree under which these product identities are registered. It is deployed alongside any Riverstone RS-series switch/router as the device-identification layer of the SNMP management stack. Engineers can download the RIVERSTONE-PRODUCTS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RIVERSTONE-PRODUCTS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Riverstone Networks RS-series multi-layer switches/routers

Monitoring Examples

An NMS reading a device's sysObjectID.0 and matching it against the OID values defined in this MIB can determine which specific Riverstone RS multi-layer switch/router model is deployed at a given site. This model identification then drives which additional Riverstone or standard MIBs (interfaces, chassis, routing) are polled for deeper status.

What Can Be Monitored
