All MIBs › RITTAL-SMI-MIB
Organization: RITTAL GmbH & Co. KG
Last Updated: 2011-04-01
Category: Vendor SMI and Registration
Description: Establishes the enterprise OID structure and SMI registration hierarchy that Rittal uses across all of its MIB modules.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is RITTAL-SMI-MIB?
RITTAL-SMI-MIB is the Structure of Management Information module that establishes the top-level enterprise OID hierarchy for Rittal, a German manufacturer of enclosures, cooling systems, and data center infrastructure equipment. It does not define any manageable objects itself; instead it registers the arcs under which all other Rittal MIB modules (for climate control units, PDUs, CMC units, etc.) allocate their own OIDs. As a pure registration module it exposes no runtime data of its own, so it cannot be used to monitor hardware or software status directly, but it underpins every Rittal monitoring MIB that reports temperature, humidity, fan, and power status further down the tree. It has no dependency on other MIBs beyond the standard SNMPv2-SMI enterprise numbering conventions. It is typically loaded alongside other Rittal-specific MIBs as a prerequisite when compiling or navigating Rittal's device MIB tree in network management software. Engineers can download the RITTAL-SMI-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RITTAL-SMI-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Rittal enclosures and data center infrastructure equipment (registration module only, not a monitorable device itself)
Monitoring Examples
This module contains only OBJECT IDENTIFIER assignments (a conformance/structure module) and no runtime data objects, tables, or traps; sample_objects is empty because none exist. It cannot be polled for any monitoring values on its own. Its sole purpose is to give other Rittal MIBs like climate or CMC controller MIBs a stable parent OID to register under.
