Description: Defines agent capability statements for the Rittal CMC III data center monitoring system.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is RITTAL-CMC-III-CAPABILITY-MIB?
RITTAL-CMC-III-CAPABILITY-MIB is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module for Rittal's CMC III (Computer Multi Control III), a data-center environmental monitoring and management unit that tracks conditions inside server racks and rooms. As a capability statement it does not itself expose environmental sensor data; rather, it documents which objects, groups, and compliance statements of the underlying Rittal CMC III MIB (covering things like temperature, humidity, door contacts, and power distribution) are actually implemented by a given CMC III agent firmware version. It therefore has no direct monitoring role of its own, though it exists specifically to support integration of environmental/hardware status monitoring (temperature, humidity, power, access) once paired with the base CMC III MIB. It is inherently dependent on the primary Rittal CMC III MIB it provides capability declarations for. It is deployed in data centers and server rooms using Rittal CMC III rack/room monitoring units, consulted by NMS tooling to confirm feature support before polling. Engineers can download the RITTAL-CMC-III-CAPABILITY-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RITTAL-CMC-III-CAPABILITY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

- Rittal CMC III data center environmental monitoring units
Monitoring Examples
This module contains no runtime sensor objects -- its sample_objects list is empty because it is purely an AGENT-CAPABILITIES declaration listing supported object groups and variations. A management system integrating a Rittal CMC III unit would check this module to confirm which environmental object groups (e.g. temperature or door-contact monitoring) are supported by the specific agent version before configuring live polling against the base CMC III MIB.
