Description: Manages private RIP IP routing extensions for Lucent Concord Technology Center router platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is RIP-IP-PRIVATE-MIB?
RIP-IP-PRIVATE-MIB, internally titled the "Cajun Private RIP MIB," is a vendor-specific module from Lucent's Concord Technology Center covering proprietary extensions to standard RIP (Routing Information Protocol) IP routing on Cajun switch/router platforms. It exposes configuration and status for RIP-related routing behavior beyond what the standard RIP-2 MIB provides, likely including vendor-specific timers or redistribution controls given its "private" naming. As a routing-protocol extension MIB it is primarily a software/configuration status tool, used to confirm RIP is enabled and functioning correctly on specific interfaces rather than exposing hardware sensor data. It builds on and extends the standard RIP-2 MIB (RFC 1724) concepts with Lucent-private additions. It would be deployed on Lucent/Avaya Cajun-series switches and routers running RIP for IP routing. Engineers can download the RIP-IP-PRIVATE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RIP-IP-PRIVATE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Lucent/Avaya Cajun switch/router
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided for this MIB, so specific table/object names cannot be grounded here; in general an operator would poll per-interface RIP configuration and route-learning state to confirm RIP is actively exchanging routes on a Cajun switch's routed interfaces.
