Description: Unofficial Sun Management Center 3.5 OID-mapping MIB for hardware configuration of the Sun Ultra NT workstation/server platform variant

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is READER4UNT-SUNMANAGEMENTCENTER-MIB?

READER4UNT-SUNMANAGEMENTCENTER-MIB is an unofficial, community-derived OID-mapping MIB reconstructing object identifiers used by Sun Management Center 3.5 for the Sun Ultra NT workstation/server platform variant. It provides a hierarchy of OIDs (sun, prod, sunsymon, agent, base, modules) that map to hardware and configuration data historically exposed by Sun's SunMC agent rather than defining new managed objects itself. Its value for monitoring is largely structural/informational: it helps tools resolve raw OIDs returned by legacy SunMC agents back into meaningful names for hardware configuration and platform identification on Ultra NT systems, rather than directly exposing live sensor readings itself. It depends entirely on the (now largely obsolete) Sun Management Center agent architecture and enterprise OID tree it documents. It would be deployed only in legacy environments still running decommissioned-era Sun Ultra workstation/server hardware under SunMC for historical or archival monitoring purposes, where the READER4UNT-SUNMANAGEMENTCENTER-MIB OID tree remains useful chiefly as a naming reference for old SunMC agent data.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in READER4UNT-SUNMANAGEMENTCENTER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Sun Ultra NT workstation
  • Sun Ultra NT server
  • legacy Sun Management Center managed host

Monitoring Examples

Because this module consists mainly of OID-tree placeholder nodes (sun, prod, sunsymon, agent, base, modules) rather than concrete leaf objects with syntax and semantics, it functions more as an OID reference/mapping aid than a live monitoring MIB; there are no runtime data objects here to describe a concrete polling scenario against.
