rdnIfCmtsCmStatusTxUnicastKbytes

Module: RDN-CMTS-MIB

OID (symbolic): RDN-CMTS-MIB::rdnIfCmtsCmStatusTxUnicastKbytes

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.4981.2.2.8.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter32

Access: read-only

Description: When read, this object will return the number of unicast KBytes (1024 bytes) the CMTS has transmitted to the modem (Downstream direction). For offline modems this value is the total number of unicast KBytes when it was online. This object is never reset as long as the CMTS is up. It does not need to be restored across reboots . However, when the CM reregisters into a new spectrum group, this data must be restored. This is 32-bit version of rdnIfCmtsCmStatusTxUnicastExtKbytes, included to provide back compatability with SNMPv1 managers

What is rdnIfCmtsCmStatusTxUnicastKbytes?

Read-only 32-bit Counter of unicast KBytes (1024-byte units) the CMTS has transmitted downstream to this modem; for an offline modem it holds the total from when it was last online, and it isn't reset across reboots but is restored when the modem re-registers on a new spectrum group. The MIB notes this is the 32-bit version kept for SNMPv1 compatibility, with rdnIfCmtsCmStatusTxUnicastExtKbytes as its 64-bit counterpart for higher-throughput links.

Start monitoring Motorola CMTS platforms (upstream/downstream channel config, cable-modem registration/reset) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Create custom SNMP monitor using the RDN-CMTS-MIB::rdnIfCmtsCmStatusTxUnicastKbytes OID value, configure state conditions and alerts, and monitor any Motorola CMTS platforms (upstream/downstream channel config, cable-modem registration/reset) from a single console.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Select a Motorola CMTS platform (upstream/downstream channel config, cable-modem registration/reset) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type rdnIfCmtsCmStatusTxUnicastKbytes into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. It reports the when read, this object will return the number of unicast KBytes (1024 bytes) the CMTS has transmitted to the modem (Downstream direction). On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
