Category: Routing, Vendor: RADLAN/Cisco SB

Description: Handles IP prefix lists applied to route filtering within routing policy configurations.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RADLAN-ippreflist-MIB?

RADLAN-ippreflist-MIB is a private Marvell/Radlan MIB for Layer 3 switches that defines IP prefix lists used for route filtering within routing policy, such as controlling which routes are permitted or denied during redistribution. It is a routing-policy configuration MIB, exposing prefix-list rule entries with permit/deny actions, prefix address/length matching, and optional length-range bounds, plus entries that are comment-only descriptions. It does not expose hardware or software fault data directly, but it indirectly affects routing behavior, so verifying its rule set is a way to confirm route filtering is behaving as intended rather than allowing unwanted routes through. It complements standard routing-policy concepts and is typically paired with the switch's own routing MIB (e.g., RADLAN-IpRouter) for redistribution and route-map use cases. It is deployed on Layer 3 switches/routers to control route filtering in routing policy configurations. Engineers can download the RADLAN-ippreflist-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-ippreflist-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Marvell/Radlan-based Layer 3 switch/router

Monitoring Examples

rlIpPrefListTable/Entry, indexed by rlIpPrefListName and rlIpPrefListEntryIndex, defines each rule's rlIpPrefListInetAddrType/InetAddr/PrefixLength along with rlIpPrefListAction (permit/deny) and optional rlIpPrefListGeLength/LeLength range bounds. An admin would check rlIpPrefListEntryType to distinguish actual filtering rules from comment-only description entries, and review the full prefix list to verify it is filtering the intended routes; an unexpectedly permissive or missing entry would explain unwanted routes appearing in the routing table.

What Can Be Monitored

  • configured prefix-list rules (permit/deny)
  • prefix address and length per rule
  • prefix length range bounds (ge/le)
  • prefix list rule vs description entry type
