Description: Configures SNMP agent parameters including community strings, trap destinations, and access control.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RADLAN-SNMP-MIB?

RADLAN-SNMP-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Radlan, a switch-silicon/software provider whose SNMP stack is embedded in many white-label and OEM Ethernet switches, used to configure and monitor the device's own SNMP agent behavior, including SNMPv3 engine ID mapping, target address/parameter tables, and notification filtering. It exposes tables mapping IP addresses to SNMPv3 engine IDs (rlSNMPv3IpAddrToIndexTable), extended target-address configuration (rlTargetAddrExtTable), and testing-level controls for notification filters and target parameters. Rather than exposing environmental or performance telemetry, this is a management-plane MIB for confirming the software configuration and health of the SNMP subsystem itself, useful for verifying trap destinations, SNMPv3 security mappings, and access control are correctly applied. It is explicitly layered on top of, and dependent on, the standard SNMP-TARGET-MIB, SNMP-NOTIFICATION-MIB, and SNMP-FRAMEWORK-MIB conventions (engine IDs, target params, and notify filters), extending them with Radlan-specific indexing. It is typically found embedded in Radlan-based OEM/whitebox Ethernet switches across multiple switch vendors. Engineers can download the RADLAN-SNMP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-SNMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Radlan-based OEM/whitebox Ethernet switch

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll rlSNMPv3IpAddrToIndexTable/rlSNMPv3IpAddrToIndexEntry to confirm a given manager's rlSNMPv3IpAddrToIndexAddr is correctly mapped to rlSNMPv3IpAddrToIndexMappedIndex, verifying SNMPv3 discovery is working for that address. rlTargetAddrExtTable/rlTargetAddrExtEntry with rlTargetAddrMagicUsedInIndex would be checked to confirm trap-destination configuration matches expectations after a config change. rlTargetParamsTestingLevel and rlNotifyFilterTestingLevel let an operator verify the configured strictness of notification filtering, revealing whether traps are being unexpectedly suppressed.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SNMPv3 engine ID to IP address mapping
  • trap/notification target address configuration
  • notification filter testing level
  • SNMP access control settings
