Description: Manages control and forwarding plane configuration, state, and statistics for network devices with separated plane architecture.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is PROPLANE-MIB?
PROPLANE-MIB is a private MIB (built on GEN-MIB) implementing LAN Emulation (LANE, RFC 1483-era ATM-to-Ethernet bridging) management-LEC configuration. Its objects report the management LEC's current ATM address and ifIndex/LEC-index mappings, an ELAN-configuration table (security mode, LES discovery method, LES registration type — requested and actual, maximum active LES count, LES address form, group LES address, LUNI 2.0 capability — configured and operational), a LES table (LEC ID range), and a LES-configuration table (mode, active status). As a configuration/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm an ELAN's LES discovery and registration settings when troubleshooting a LANE client that can't join its emulated LAN. It is deployed on this vendor's ATM LAN Emulation equipment. Engineers can download the PROPLANE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PROPLANE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- ATM LAN Emulation (LANE) equipment
Monitoring Examples
An administrator checks propLaneElanLesActualRgstrType against the configured propLaneElanLesRgstrType to catch a LES registration mismatch preventing a LEC from joining its ELAN.
What Can Be Monitored
- ELAN LES discovery and registration configuration
